Pixel 6 and 6 Pro hands-on: Google's return to premium phones

Engadget

The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are finally here, and they're the most promising phones from Google in years. We've already seen plenty of pictures and videos of the Pixel 6, but now we actually have devices to play with and detailed specs to share. One of the highlights of the Pixel 6s are the cameras, which not only received a processing boost thanks to Tensor, but also a serious hardware upgrade. Additionally, these handsets bring faster-refreshing screens, Android 12-exclusive features and significant voice recognition enhancements. But the best thing about the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro is the reasonable price.

The OnePlus 6T will have a feature the iPhone XS and Pixel 3 won't: an in-display fingerprint reader

PCWorld

With rumors swirling about Apple's new iPhone XS (landing Wednesday) and Google's Pixel 3 (coming October 9), it's easy to forget that there are other phones arriving this fall. And to make sure it isn't ignored, OnePlus is teasing a huge feature in its next phone. In an interview with CNET, a OnePlus representative divulged that the upcoming 6T will have a feature called Screen Unlock, bringing the fabled in-display fingerprint to the most mainstream phone yet. "By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock," OnePlus said, "users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them." CNet also reports that the hardware fingerprint sensor on the rear of the phone will be removed, giving it a "more unibody look," and the phone will be about a half-millimeter thicker to accommodate the new tech.

iPhone X Sales Discourage Chinese Manufacturers From Copying Apple's Face ID Sensor

International Business Times

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" is an adage that is very applicable to the tech industry. This has been the case for Apple, who has always proven to be the trendsetter in more ways than one. But this year is slightly different. The Cupertino giant's rivals may have already copied the design of the iPhone X, but they are skipping the opportunity of bringing Face ID to their premium handsets this year. DigiTimes reported Friday that China-based smartphone vendors are not at all considering incorporating 3D sensors into their upcoming releases.

#artificialintelligence

At the end of the month, Barcelona will traditionally host the annual Mobile World Congress and Doogee plans to introduce three new ("futuristic" as they say) smartphones during the show. The first one is the Dogee V, which has a full-screen front design with an in-display fingerprint sensor and an AMOLED display with a U-shaped notch. The second is Doogee Mix 3, which will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and... Doogee V is known for featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of RAM and almost an all-screen front. The new unnamed smartphone resembles the V in many ways - it has the same U-shaped notch, 3D curved back, but instead of having an in-display fingerprint sensor, it has a thin chin... While Doogee BL12000's hot pre-sale is currently going on, the DoogeeSlide Full-screen Concept Phone appears on a third-party video.
